How it works

The exchange
methodology.

The Private Asset Exchange methodology does not replace the professional sale-and-purchase process. It creates another route into it—connecting owners whose yachts, timing and ambitions may work together.

01

Create your private yacht file

An owner or authorised broker begins with the guided listing form. For a self-managed listing, the named fee payer reviews the completed agreement and signs it directly in the form before sending the yacht file. Change Your Boat provides listing and introduction services; the owner or appointed broker leads negotiation and completion. A request for Value Passage representation is assessed separately and does not create a brokerage mandate.

02

Private verification and valuation

The owner or appointed broker supplies a supported yacht valuation, evidence of ownership or authority and the principal technical information. Change Your Boat may facilitate contact with an independent marine valuer or surveyor, appointed directly by the owner. The owner appoints and pays the valuer. Eligible actual valuation costs are reimbursed within a cap agreed in writing before appointment, only after a covered deal completes and we receive that owner’s success fee in cleared funds. If the deal fails, the owner retains the cost; technical surveys are not automatically included. Supporting documents are requested privately by email and are never uploaded through the public website.

03

A realistic exchange position

We consider comparable yachts, condition, maintenance, design, equipment, location and market demand. Where there is strong mutual interest but the values differ, the structure may include another agreed asset and a cash top-up of up to 40% of the agreed value of the yacht received by the paying side. A seasonal top-up uses the agreed received-use value for the actual period. The contribution values, exact top-up and resulting fee basis must be expressly confirmed in writing before completion or initial handovers. Initial listing preferences do not fix those amounts.

04

Private review, acceptance and controlled publication

The self-managed yacht submission arrives privately with the named payer’s electronic signature evidence. It is an offer for review, not automatic Operator acceptance or publication. We check identity, authority, the yacht file and the expressly accepted verified fee basis, then countersign the agreed complete contract before final approval and a separate publication decision. The accepted listing has a separate €250 charge plus applicable taxes, invoiced and paid before first publication; submitting for review takes no payment. The charge covers the agreed profile for the agreement’s listing term with no automatic renewal. If the profile is never first published, any listing charge paid is refunded, with mandatory cancellation and refund rights preserved. Material contract or valuation changes require renewed owner signing or a signed variation. Accepted Value Passage representation uses its own separately agreed mandate. The public profile remains limited to one selected photograph, make and model, length, approximate year, maximum speed and fuel range. Further information needs a reviewed request and appropriate permission.

05

Introduction, due diligence and completion

Before a qualified introduction, each participating side signs its own 0.5% fee agreement with a defined basis. The yacht owner’s permanent fee uses its agreed verified yacht contribution value plus any cash top-up it pays; cash received is not added again. Its seasonal fee uses its own agreed rental/use value for the actual period plus any cash top-up it pays, never the yacht’s capital value. A cash buyer or another asset’s owner has a separate agreement and its own basis. A separately accepted cash-only sale uses the cash buyer’s full agreed purchase consideration once; the 40% limit concerns mixed exchanges with a cash top-up. The fee protects deals resulting from Change Your Boat, including attempts to bypass the introduction. Legally applicable taxes are additional. EUR payment to the operator’s company account is due within ten business days after completion; seasonal completion means the actual initial handovers of both agreed uses. The parties and their advisers remain responsible for title, condition, professional checks, registry, tax, insurance and completion. Value Passage representation requires a separate mandate and commission. Change Your Boat does not hold transaction funds.
